The Parable of the Sower Bible Verse Explained in Depth!
The
parable of the sower in the Bible is one of the parables that Jesus used to
teach people about the Kingdom of God.
A
parable is a simple story Jesus used to illustrate and teach spiritual lessons.
During His earthly ministry, Jesus spoke many parables to fulfill the
scriptures which say, “I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter
dark sayings of old.” Psalm 78:2.
As
he sowed, some of the seeds fell on the wayside (First category) where they were exposed to the
birds. The birds that had been watching the man sowing quickly came down and
devoured them. These seeds did not have any opportunity to grow at all.
As
the sower continued to sow, (Second Category) some of the seeds fell on the part of the field
where there is not much earth but stones.
These
seeds germinated and grew up as normal plants. But there was not much soil to
support them. Because of the heat from the sun, the young plants were losing
water faster than their shallow roots could draw water from the ground. They
died off in no time.
The
third category of seeds fell among thorns. They managed to grow up, but there
was not much space for them. The competition between them and the already
developed thorns was fierce. Eventually, the thorns choked them, and they too
died off.
The
fourth category of seeds which is the last one fell on the good soil. That is
the part of the field that does not have stones or thorns. The soil there was
rich in nutrients.
The
seeds germinated and grew big, they brought forth fruits in great numbers, and
here the efforts of the sower were greatly rewarded.
