For Austin French,
Jesus can heal the brokenhearted, and give a new beginning to the hopeless. He
is a 28-year-old rising Christian singer from Georgia, USA. He is not the only
one in that category, but somehow he has established the fact that he is a
singer to be reckoned with.
Austin French came
into the limelight when he featured in ABC’s Rising Star, and NBC’s The Voice.
Though he did not clinch the first position in the competitions, he was able to
make his mark. He was able to show the raw talent that God had deposited in
him. Rising to the second position in the talent hunting competitions inspired him
to shun all distractions and focus on God’s calling for his life.
What Makes Austin French Songs Unique?
One thing that no
one can take away from French’s songs is that they address the immediate needs
of today’s youth. Being a youth himself, he could identify the struggles they
are going through, and all the efforts they are making to find the solution to
life’s issues. An experience he had in the past. He was able to find the
solution in Christ, and he is now well equipped to tell the whole world through
songs that Jesus is “the way, the truth, and the life.” John 14:6.
When he was
growing up, Austin French saw the hypocrisy that was rampant in the lives of
many Christians he met. He remembered the words of Jesus telling the Pharisees
and the scribes in the Bible, “But
woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut the kingdom of
heaven in people’s faces. For you neither enter yourselves nor allow those who
would enter to go in.” Matthew
23:13. Austin found it
hard to connect the life God expects believers in Christ to live with what he
was seeing, hence he thought he had to quit Christianity altogether.
Being a lover of
music, he attended a Christian music camp where he felt God leading him to tell
the world about the evil and ugliness of hypocrisy. That was the foundation for
his Christian music ministry. Though people who had him sing felt he should
divert to pop and other popular kinds of music. He felt he had discovered his
area of calling, and he will stick to it.
believes “Life is meant to be lived wide open, not closed off, not safe,
but living close to the Lord.” That was his philosophy of life. It
inspired him to write one of his best hits, “Wide Open.” How close to
God are you? How much do you know of him? How much of your life have you
allowed Him to handle? Surely you cannot know about your life more than the one
who created you. The Bible says, “God
knows the end from the beginning.” Isaiah 46:10. He knows everything
about the journey of your life from cradle to grave. He can provide for all
your needs no matter how critical they may be. That is the reason why we must
live with our hands wide open to God in prayers and penitence for our sins. We must
let Him know how helpless we are without Him because that is the reality
Messages from Austin French Jesus Songs
‘Jesus Can,’ was written from a Christian perspective, but it is a song that
ministers to both Christians and non-Christians. The song looks at our world
from the eyes of an 8-year-old boy who was witnessing the many challenges that
we all have to go through. The boy was having hard times; he was living in
fear. He cannot comprehend how he would scale through all these. Looking at his
parents does not help the matter because he saw they were grappling with their
That boy’s story
is what we all share. All of us are going through it. For “In this world there are tribulations.”
John 16:33. Just like all other Austin French Songs. “Jesus Can”
tells us that the solution is Jesus. The one ordained and anointed by God for
our salvation. He is the only one that can save us. The only one that can turn
our broken dreams into testimonies of joy.
This song has been
a great help for lots of people recovering from addictions. French ministered
in songs to them in Florida and made them realize that the one that can give
them permanent recovery is Jesus Christ. We all need to recover from sin, for
we have all sinned and come short of the glory of God. Allow Jesus in your life
and enjoy total freedom.
