Samaritan’s Purse, a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization has been, since 1970, helping victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, famine, and disease to meet ends and also with spiritual and physical aid.

The Samaritan’s Purse project is known for collecting and delivering shoeboxes which are filled with hygiene items, school supplies, and fun toys with an additional small booklet that relays the gospel message of Jesus Christ.

Extraordinary Initiatives during COVID-19 pandemic

Despite the COVID- 19 restrictions, this movement accomplished great reach owing to the fact that people could pack the boxes in the security of their homes and submit them to anyone from more than 4000 Drop-off locations, apart from this the organization also offered the option to virtually pack a shoebox gift.

Heartwarming achievements of the volunteers from all around the world

It was reported by Samaritan’s purse that almost 9.1 million were collected worldwide, which was made possible by the compassionate efforts of nearly 570,000 volunteers worldwide and around 70,000 participants who worked at the drop-off locations and more than 51,000 people who came forward to inspect the shoeboxes at eight different processing centers across the country.

The goodwill of the participants was aided by almighty as well when the prayers of over 4,000 God’s people were answered as the lockdown in Thailand was lifted and the organization was able to hold their events in the country where earlier circumstances indicated bleak opportunities for shoebox deliveries.

With the happiness given and received the volunteers are now preparing for the upcoming national collection week which is November 15 – 22, in hopes that their efforts reach another 8.2 million children with gift-filled shoeboxes.
