#4 — War Room (2015)
The Kendrick Brothers shifted from small-town sports to the power of prayer—and knocked off studio fare to claim the #1 spot over Labor Day. Shot lean, aimed squarely at church families, and propelled by testimonies, War Room convinced exhibitors that faith titles could top a holiday weekend. It also legitimized the “church as influencer network” model: pre-screenings, pastor kits, and coordinated opening-night buys. From here on, studios budgeted for faith windows and devoted more screens to PG dramas.
